Block Broom

This floor-length broom is made from sugar maple, with jumbo-sized bristles of tampico fiber. Sections of it are hand carved and painted with milk paint, a mixture of buttermilk, limestone, and mineral pigments, which gives the broom a beautiful texture and color.
The round handle includes a square-edged section, which I find grips well when using the broom with one hand, and sweeping debris into a dust pan.
Hand made and finished in Portland. Each sweeping head contains 12 individually wrapped bundles of tampico, which is a stiff, yet supple natural sweeping fiber.
